The Faith That Works

Welcome to the Yalamatrix Schools website. The slogan of the YMS which is ‘doing better the parents’ is a derivative of the above phraseology which, coincidentally, is also our mantra. Our successes in life often have a lot to do with what becomes of our children. Success without a successor is a paradox. If we want to go fast in life, we may have to go alone but to go far, we must go with someone. The issues of success and going far in life are interwoven in the life of our young ones. We are told that it takes two to bring a child into this world and it will take the entire community to bring up the child.

We must synergise as parents and teachers (with collaboration between the homes and schools) to bring up children that can at least sustain the level we have already attained in life. In doing this, we must take into consideration, the following

• The right answer for a child later in life may depend on the choice of the parents at the primary level.
• Ensuring that the school fees are not wasted is more important than the actual cost of the school fees.
• We need to prepare the children for the road rather than preparing the road for the children.
• Life is like a very big bus station; please make sure that your young ones are in the right vehicle, so that their destiny is not swapped for any destination.
• Parenting is about what we leave in them and not necessarily what we leave for them. We must try to be a ‘Thermostat’ in their lives instead of playing the role of a ‘Thermometer’.

All these, will definitely, bring on us an enormous challenge in the training of our young ones which is very preferable to the reckless culture of ‘rearing’ and ‘gambling with them’.

Consequently, we must, as parents and teachers, face the issue of standards which is epitomised in QUALITY – value for labour and resources. Survival in life, we believe, is more of quality-function than quantity-dependence. As a matter of fact, quantity often tends to compromise quality. However, the challenge about quality is that it is not cheap. If you get it cheap, it may be a fake one or a systematic arrangement might have subsidized it. It is our strong belief that there are great potentials in these young ones awaiting an explorative discovery. Invariably, from all intents and purposes, we aim at exposing these young ones to quality infrastructures, programs, projects and international best practices, so that they can be in the driving seat in their generation. It is about standards, it is about quality and it is all about the next generation.

In conclusion, we want to invite and welcome you to join us as a major stakeholder and a very reliable partner in fostering the next generation of people that will do better than the present generation. This is how we can hope for a better world and also for a better life. It will require our Time, Talent and Treasure. It has to be a TEAM work. After all, it is the proximity of trees that makes a monkey an expert in jumping. This is our dream and the only way to actualise it is to wake up. Let us go for the desirable not just the available. We need your alertness so that there will be no sleeping and there will be no slumbering. Let us all be focused.
